The Terminator (Revamped)

"decent"

date: August 8, 2009

First, I think the piano part in the beginning went on for a bit too long for my tastes. At least too long for a song named "The Terminator". I really agree with EvilScorpio that the guitar is way overpowering. After the piano stops, the rest of the song sounds like just one long guitar solo to me. Needs some more basic playing to give the other instruments some glory.

Author's Response:

Ok I'm getting that the intro is too long. I agree as well but I liked my intro too much and didnt want to cut it up anymore. At first the intro came out as like 2 mins but decided that was waaaaaaay to much so I cut it down but it still needs a little more I guess. And yeah I guess the guitar is overpowering I'll go back and try to clean it all up a little better.

I've never heard of someone making a parody of a song such as raver's fantasy. I have to admit this song grew on me. The lyrics were pretty funny, though I didn't like the echo effect in the second half of this song. Overall, a funny track.

It sounded pretty cool, and Vectorman was a cool game, so this gets my approval. You still need to increase the volume. I'm sure you can do that in whatever program you used to make this.

Yes, very videogame-esque, but with a twist with the drum added in. The flute made it very reminiscent of various RPG games, and like I said, it was still unique with the other instruments added in. Overall, an enjoyable track.

Airbass

submission: Airbass

A good track. It's got a very strong base with the drums, but I'm not really digging the "airbass" I guess you would call it as the dominant sound in this entire song. I do really enjoy the middle part where that sound is used a bit less though.

I can't exactly tell what song the first section is from, but after about one minute, I recognize the tune immediately, and you did a good job with this. Nothing spectacular...not much deviation from the original, and the deviation probably would have made this a more interesting track.

Lion King - F-777 ReMiX

When turning the entire song into an electronic beat as you did, it really just sounds quite generic to me. A good tune, but not one I'm going to save to listen to later. I can't really tell if you did this or not, but did you use any parts from the original song to incorporate into this? That would have probably made it a bit less stale for me.

Yep, it definitely has that classic oriental sound to it, and I think you picked just the right BPM for this to go with that theme. Can't say it really kept me interested throughout though. It was a bit repetitive, and didn't offer too much variation throughout.

You're right, it's not quite trance...it's a bit too fast to be in that genre. Sounds like it may have had some Sonic inspiration in it. At least that's what it sounds like a bit to me. Overall, a good mix of sounds, with well-place breaks and changes throughout.

Author's Response:

THanks for reviewing! a bit too fast (indeed) and also Trance doesn't sounds like VG tunes.. :P

~EnV~Writers block loop

"(title in work)"

date: July 14, 2009

It's got a pretty complex sound for a loop, which might make it a bit overbearing if it's used in a flash submission. The loop isn't flawless as you say, but the more you listen to it, the smoother and smoother the transition seems.
